Inner Tube Water Polo

Thursday night, Members met poolside and split into two teams to battle at inner tube water polo. Referree’d by Bonnie Adams from Swim OZ, the green and blue teams claimed their inner tubes, made friends with new teammates and got a quick rundown of the (very loose) rules. The most fundamental of all rules: keep your booty in the tube. It’s not legal to drop your feet or legs below the surface of the water.

When Bonnie called “game on”, what began as a polite poolside meet-and-greet switched modes to full-send competition. Legit game faces came out with intensity as the green and blue teams each gained tally marks on the scoreboard during the first quarter.

Several Members of the match had backgrounds in ball sports, ranging from volleyball to baseball and softball. That competitive grit was evidenced as the game rolled into the first half. Even Members on the pool sideline began to cheer on their friends playing on each team.

At the end of the evening, the green team won 11 to 9 after a fierce second half. BlakeSt is bringing Bonnie and Swim OZ back next month for another round, so stay tuned for more inner tube water polo in August!
