“Fidelity” stands as one of many Wendell Berry novels portraying the changes Americans faced entering the 20th Century. Set in a Kentucky farming town, the five elegant stories in “Fidelity” span over 100 years and reveal the interconnectedness of the farmers and their families to one another, to their past, and to the landscape they inhabit. While Berry explores the theme of loss, the stories leave plenty of room for the comfort of community a small town can provide.
