Sketching can have a purpose beyond art. It can be a tool to help us understand our surroundings, boost our mood, help us cope during difficult times, and encourage a sense of wonder for the small things in our daily routine. Join celebrated visual artist and teacher Laura Raborn as she leads a class on cultivating sketchbooks. In this 2.5-hour workshop, Laura will review value scale, blocking shapes, and the technique of blind contouring. Each participant will receive an artist-grade pencil and pen, a small watercolor travel kit, and a sketchbook full of potential for new ideas. Wear comfortable shoes, and bring a water bottle. After some warm-up sketches, Laura will travel with you outdoors to sketch activities in nature, as well as the Bentonville Square.
