Club Scouts

A special thank you

As we come to a close on another year together, I want to extend my warmest thoughts of gratitude toward the Members at BlakeSt, specifically our Clubs Scouts. Any business in hospitality can boast about their commitment to inclusion, but none have mastered the feeling of belonging more than BlakeSt. Four years ago, I was given the opportunity to become a part of the BlakeSt community, and I’ve been thankful ever since. However, it wasn’t until the wake of the Memorial Day storms this May that I had the privilege to belong to a community. It’s easy to be a neighbor during the good times, but to be able to put yourself aside and extend help to another during times of adversity is a demonstration of true community. Community looks beyond your upbringing, your past, your mistakes, and sets a plate at the table for you all the same. Community gives us a space where our differences are appreciated and our presence is valued. There is no better role model for community than the Club Scouts, a hodge-podge of individuals all connected by BlakeSt: a group of people I am so honored to know and be known by. Our time with others is defined in the moments; not just the large, grandiose celebrations, but in the small glimmers of connection that happen every day. Cheers to another year of ‘glimmers’ together, and thank you for everything you bring to this community.

What is a Club Scout?

A BlakeSt Club Scout is a true cornerstone of our community—whether they’re brightening up the place with daily visits or inspiring others through their dedication in fitness classes. Club Scouts are the heartbeat of BlakeSt, embodying the values of inclusivity, creativity, and community spirit. Without our Club Scouts, BlakeSt would just be a building—but thanks to them, BlakeSt is a House with purpose.

Our 2024 BlakeSt valedectorian

This year, we were thrilled to honor Dan Sanker as our BlakeSt valedictorian for having the most visits to BlakeSt over the past 12 months! His commitment and passion for swimming shines, and we're grateful for his self control to not break into BlakeSt to swim on the days the House is closed----although he has mentioned it's crossed his mind a time or two. Thanks Dan, for making BlakeSt the vibrant, welcoming space it is today.

A special thanks to our 2023 valedictorian, Tom Hoehn, for inspiring Dan to beat his record and claim the top spot this year.
